Friday Favorites and Hello Autumn Weather

September 4, 2015

Happy Fri-YAY!

It appears that autumn is arriving with full force here in Germany. To be honest, I’m not even sad because I feel INCREDIBLY grateful for the summer we had. As the wise Dr. Seuss once said:

Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.”

I’m all smiles for all the nice weather we had and all the wonderful moments we were able to enjoy outdoors. If the sun decides to shine upon us again, I won’t be complaining though. 😉

With the weather getting a bit cooler, I’m slowly transitioning from cold to warm beverages. Being that I’m  a tea lover (the Mr. being Italian is more into coffee of course) I like to make some tea combinations to change things up a bit. My love for Matcha Tea, you have seen before here. I also like to make Matcha lattes with honey and a dash of cinnamon. A rainy afternoon is, in my opinion, the perfect occasion for a warm Matcha latte. To be able to get all the health benefits of all green teas, it is advisable to stick to organic brands. Matcha has quite a high price point, being organic makes it even higher. This is the Matcha brand I use, which is organic but not at an extremely high price. Keep in mind that you only use a little bit at a time, so even a small bag will last you long.

Yesterday we had the chance to meet for a quick bite for lunch and wanted to try out a new place. I had heard of the Stereo Cafe a while ago, but hadn’t had the chance to go and see (taste) it myself. We were pleasantly surprised with the service and the quality of the food. The staff was very friendly and everything was served fast and you could see they really put care into their food. Plus, very yummy! Bonus point: they also have vegan and healthy options in their menu, even though they are your typical “health cafe”. Four thumbs up in approval! We can’t wait to go back!!!

Continuing on the topic of healthy foods, this week I discovered a new granola from the brand Allos at my local organic supermarket. What caught my attention was that it didn’t have any refined sugar (which is quite hard to find) plus no palm oil. The sweetener they use is agave syrup. Not the best option but much better than sugar nonetheless. There were many flavor combinations with cranberry, vanilla & cashew, chocolate…but I chose the chokeberry because to be honest, I’ve never had chokeberry before. I found it quite similar to Acai in terms of taste.

I don’t know about you, but I have a thing for cactus and succulents. We have several around at our place and I would love to have a huge one, kind of like a statement piece. When I saw this post I was in serious #plantenvy. How gorgeous is that?!

In terms of fitness & co. this week I got some new workout leggings from Nike, which you’ve probably seen on Instagram here.  I think Nike has been investing a lot in their materials department because I can really feel a difference in terms of texture, softness and comfort in their new products. I have to admit the main reason I bought these were because of the gorgeous color combination though. Yes, they are a splurge, but after I received them I understood why. My standards for great leggings have always been Lululemon (which aren’t cheap babies either) and I believe these are way, waaaaaay better. At least in terms of feel, which makes a huge difference when you’re at the gym all the time. I hope they also last me a long time. Only time will tell… #betterforit

What were your favorites this week? We’d love to hear them! Have a great active weekend!!!
